Freshers week student membership campaign

The BriEF

Encourage University of Surrey students to keep active and make new social connections by participating in various sports activities. Students could choose from over 40 Team Surrey club activities and Surrey Sports Park memberships and also earn Surrey Moves rewards. Communication needed to encourage freshers to get active, keep fit and expand their social circle while participating in various sports, gym and other activities.

Our Solution

To clearly communicate the benefits of student membership within Surrey Sports Park we created welcome pack communication that offered various options for novices and enthusiasts. This was echoed across multiple touch points using printed leaflets, banners, TV screens, social media and activations in strategic locations. Students could enrol in gym, swim and fitness classes and also join group sports – PlaySport for social sports and ClubSport for an opportunity to represent Team Surrey in competitive sports.

The RESULT

Student membership targets were exceeded across categories with more students opting for better value Gold membership. Team Surrey activity across all clubs also increased compared to the previous year with extra timetable slots being made available for students.
